Applications
Hypertronics focuses on a set of core markets and applications that require high reliability interconnects and specialty products. In most cases, high mating cycles and immunity to shock and vibration are essential design considerations. Hypertronics design engineers work directly with customers to design interconnect solutions that meet specific application requirements. These markets include:
Military and Aerospace
Medical
Industrial, and Test & Measurement
Custom Design Solutions
Military and Aerospace Market Overview
(Aircraft, Naval and Land Systems)
Applications:
Focused market segments include: communication, navigation, weapons, spacecraft / satellites, missile defense, ground support / maintenance as well as other mission critical systems, all of which require the high reliability and performance of the Hypertac® specialty connector system. Hypertronics Interconnect solutions are well suited to solve the severe shock, vibration and fretting issues associated with these markets.
Hypertronics provides standard and customized solutions for all civil and military aircraft of all configurations, and various naval and land vehicle systems and applications.

Medical Market Overview
Applications:
Electronic catheters to map the electrical impulses of a beating heart; patient monitors to keep an "eye" on a patient's blood pressure or oxygen levels; MRI systems to provide doctors with a better view of various internal organs; defibrillators to bring a heart attack victim "back to life"; and medical lab equipment to study the effects of various drugs on the causes of disease.
Medical Devices are typically critical to the health and/or welfare of a patient and Hypertronics provides its Interconnect solutions where "failure is not an option". Hypertronics supplies the medical market with standard and custom Interconnect solutions where thousands of mating cycles are required. Also, the critical nature of the electrical connection could require very low contact resistance for signal integrity which is also provided by the Hypertac contact system.
Benefits:
- The Hypertac contact system, with its very high (up to 100,000) mating cycle life and very low contact resistance (<8 milliohms for small signal contacts), is ideal for these high-reliability medical applications.
- Higher current carrying capability, low insertion force, shock and vibration immunity, and excellent wiping action give additional advantages for specific medical requirements.

Industrial, Test & Measurement Market Overview
(Includes all markets except military, aerospace and medical)
Applications:
Portable data collection, telecom, semiconductor, rail, heavy equipment/machinery, test & measurement, robotics and industrial automation equipment, oil equipment, entertainment and broadcast equipment, and power supplies, just to name a few. Applications for high reliability connectors within the industrial market are identified based on the value they place on the interconnect solutions within their products and the cost of ownership it will entail. For example, customers in this market segment are fearful of what could happen if the electrical connection fails. Such cost implications of a failed connector include: significant production downtime, loss of critical data, expensive maintenance repairs, and damage to product reputation.
Benefits:
- Applications that require high amperage but have limited workspace can benefit from the high contact density and high current carrying capacity of Hypertronics connectors.
- Portable data collection computers and test instrumentation devices are often connected and disconnected many times, thus requiring the high mating cycles (up to 100,000) and low insertion/extraction forces of the Hypertac contact system.
- In applications such as down hole drilling equipment, industrial motors and test fixtures, the Hypertac contact system will maintain electrical continuity even under harsh environmental conditions such as shock and vibration.
