D Series Circular Connector Using a connector should not need an advanced course in engineering, that is the theory behind Hypertronics' D series connectors: Simple to use, foolproof, reliable. Whether it's a busy medical technician hooking up a patient monitor, an outpatient wearing a therapeutic device, or a harried business person plugging their laptop into the armrest on their aircraft seat, the connector should be intuitive. The D series cooperates by having a simple push-button latch, available color coding and a "D" shaped flange which makes "up" and "down" obvious.

There are two D series sizes to accommodate a wide variety of applications. The mini D01 plug has up to nine Hypertac contacts in less than 1/2" diameter. The slightly larger D02 offers even more options, from three power to 25 signal contacts, or a mixture of power or coax and signal contacts.

The D series provides OEM medical equipment designers with reliable connections for applications as diverse as electrophysiology catheters, monitors, MRI's, intravascular ultrasounds, defibrillators, infusion pumps and laboratory equipment. They are also used in industrial applications where reliability is a must. Additionally, D02 connectors are incorporated into the Arinc 628 system that provides power for laptop computers in many commercial aircraft.

Hypertronics customizes the D series for specific applications. From single use disposables, integrated electronics, metal shells for increased strength, custom colors matching the OEM equipment, and custom contact configurations, to what your system requires. Custom cable assemblies are also offered, incorporating the D series with overmolding and special cable bundles to meet your needs.

HBB Series

HBB connectors combine high current handling capability with small size and exceptional environmental performance for demanding power systems applications. The HBB range is suitable for use in all types of high-power applications. This is particularly applicable to electric drives used in fighting vehicles, weapons systems, ground-based and airborne avionics systems, rail transport and the automotive and medical sectors.

Designed for easy mating and quick release, the devices use Hypertronics’ hyperboloid contact technology to attain standard current ratings of 300A and 500A with high reliability and excellent integrity. Hyperboloid contacts produce contact resistance figures as low as 0.05mΩ that will help in reducing resistive losses. This both eases the task of thermal management and allows better power handling in a smaller space with a lower overall mass.

The HBB series features a polarized design with a variety of options that ease assembly allowing simple maintenance and speedy changeover for minimal system downtime. Offered in a choice of metal or high-strength composite shells, these single-pole circular connectors are sealed to IP67 and feature 360° EMI/RFI shielding. Configurations are available in cable or panel mount versions and with straight or right angle back shells, allowing users to choose the most appropriate variants to simplify their cable management architecture and therefore further increase reliability and reduce the likelihood of interconnection errors.

Rated for use at up to 1000V DC, the HBB series can accept cable sizes of up to 70mm2 for 300A versions and 120mm2 for 500A versions. Receptacles are available with sizes conforming to MIL-DTL-5015, while metal versions can be specified with a variety of plating options including zinc/cobalt, cadmium and electroless nickel. Flange mounting sizes for 300A and 500A connectors as per MIL-DTL-5015 shell sizes 20 and 24 respectively.

  • Size and power options – 300 and 500 Amps
  • Quick release metal shell or plastic body depending on customer requirements
  • IP67 rated
  • 90 degree or straight cable entry
  • Low weight and space efficient
  • Applications include power distribution, delivery and storage
  • Meets the requirements of:
    • “Pit-stop” maintenance programs,
    • The harshest environments,
    • RFI screening – optional

HyperRel Connector Hypertronics now offers ruggedized connectors that are intermateable with MIL-C-38999 Series III connectors. HyperRel is built upon the legendary Hypertac contact technology which outperforms other interconnect options in terms of performance reliability, number of mating cycles, contact forces, contact resistance and value. HyperRel Series Metal (HRM) Connector The HRM series offers the maximum in vibration, shock and EMI resistance. A general duty threaded connector; the HRM series offers thicker wall sections and greater coupling surface with 100% metal-to-metal bottoming, a superior anticoupling system and a proven dielectric contact retention. The positive metal-to-metal coupling design, superior interfacial seals, and cadmium over nickel plating provide excellent EMI, moisture and corrosion resistance. Elongated mounting holes permit the HRM connector to intermount with existing standard MS/38999 box or wall mount receptacles, giving it a design replacement advantage. HyperRel Series Composite (HRC) Connector The HRC series eliminates the largest contributing factor in advanced systems malfunctionˆ corrosion, which is the main cause of mechanical, electrical, and electromagnetic connector degradation. Electromotive force differentials between many dissimilar metals found in connectors and accessories produce galvanic action. The HRC eliminates these dissimilar metals resulting in an interconnection system that withstands over 2000 hours of salt spray.

  • Metal (HRM) and composite (HRC) shell styles
  • High shock and vibration resistance
  • Ruggedized socket interconnects
  • High shock and vibration resistance
  • 100% metal to metal bottoming
  • Hypertac style 39029 contacts (sizes 12, 16, 20, 22D)
  • 50% reduction in resistance over MIL-C-39029 contacts
  • Triple start, self locking, threaded coupling
  • Cable to cable and panel mount styles

SnapTac Series – Circular

SnapTac connectors offer designers of military systems improved signal integrity, IP67 sealing and the robustness required for use in extreme environments. SnapTac connectors combine the high-reliability hyperboloid contact technology with the mechanical features of a spring-loaded contact.

The connectors have been designed for high-speed data-audio-video transmission by upgrading commercial Ethernet, USB, IEEE 1394 interconnect to Mil Spec performance. SnapTac products can satisfy even the most demanding of design requirements, offering quick and easy mating and unmating with hardware coding to avoid mis-matching, and IP67 sealing, both when mated and unmated. SnapTac connectors are compact in size and provide a reduced weight.

The connector family incorporates full line EMI shielding and uses the HyperSpring connector technology to ensure low contact resistance and hence excellent signal integrity. SnapTac connectors also provide for high robustness throughout their lifetime. They provide an inherent self-cleaning wiping action, eliminating the need for a protection cap, while the nature of the electrical contacts also substantially reduces contact fretting for increased reliability.

Available in both circular and rectangular form factors, SnapTac connectors combine a Hypertac socket placed between the barrel and the plunger of a common spring-loaded contact. This means that separate structures provide the physical spring action and the electrical conduction function, allowing Hypertac to employ two different materials to optimize the physical and electrical performance of the connector. In particular this reduces ohmic losses and eliminates the inductive effects that can be caused by the coiled topology of a spring contact.

  • HyperSpring® spring loaded contacts, self-cleaning wiping action
  • 7, 13, or 19 contact configurations
  • Combine robust environmental performance with compact size and light weight
  • Easy and fast snap on locking mechanism
  • Full line EMI shielding
  • IP67 sealing when mated and unmated
  • Different hardware coding to avoid mismatching
  • Overmolding solutions
  • Upgrade commercial high speed Fast Ethernet, USB, IEEE 1394 interconnect to Mil Spec
    performances
