MILITARY & AEROSPACE APPLICATIONS ARE DRIVING THE NEED FOR RUGGED SATA
Military sensor based applications (SIGINT/COMINT/ISR) generate high volumes of real time data that needs to be stored, streamed and processed. This requirement is driven by the increased demand for both manned and unmanned airborne Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems. The demand will further increase as the success of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) are stimulating further development of unmanned maritime vehicles (UMV) & unmanned ground vehicles (UGV).

Industry standard SATA connectors are unacceptable for demanding military and aerospace environments and platforms due to lack of ruggedness, poor reliability, the solder tails radiate like an antenna and the board lock mechanism is not sufficiently rugged for the targeted applications.
Microsemi’s TRRUST-Stor SSD enabled with the rugged SATA connectors utilizing Hypertronics’ hyperboloid contact technology results in rugged SSDs that are suitable for military applications such as data recorders, avionics, ruggedized mobile systems and digital maps utilized on military platforms, including, fighter aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, helicopters, mobile man-pack and ground vehicles.
