Packed with useful features including engineering drawings, the catalog highlights for the first time the innovative HyperGrip– and Hot Plug products.
Hypertronics recently launched the HyperGrip series of high reliability, IP67 sealed, RFI/EMI shielded, circular plastic connectors that feature a versatile but simple keying system so that the wrong connector pair can never be mated. HyperGrip uses a standard hexagonal insert with positional keying, providing the customer the ability to key the same connector in six individual keyed configurations. Another feature unique to HyperGrip is that the design of the panel mount receptacle allows the user to mount the harness assembly from inside or outside of the case. All the parts õ connector body, insert, contacts and colored identification rings - are in stock from the Hypertronics´ distribution network.
As a result of the patent pending design, Hypertronics´ Hot Plug contact provides live plug capability to over 50 mating cycles, is immune to the effects of shock and vibration, carries a low contact resistance and has been tested to applicable sections of UL1977 Safety Standard. The new contact is rated at 16 amps for hot plug applications and 28 amps (up to 100,000 mating cycles) for non-hot plug applications, and accepts 13-14 AWG wire size. Available contact size (pin OD) is 2.0mm or larger, with crimp, solder cup, or straight dip terminations.
All Hypertronics connectors are based on the unique Hypertac contact. The shape of the contact sleeve is formed by wires strung at an angle to the socket´s axis. When the pin is inserted into this sleeve, the wires stretch around it, providing a number of linear contact paths. This results in a contact that can carry higher currents and is highly reliable even under severe shock and vibration conditions.
