Hypertronics
Introduces ImplanTac™,
a Bio-Compatible High
Reliability Interconnect
Solution for Implantable
Therapeutic Devices
Hudson,
MA (March 25, 2008)
–Hypertronics Corporation,
a Smiths Interconnect
business and world-leading
provider of high performance
interconnect solutions
for the most demanding
applications, announced
today the release of their
ImplanTac technology,
a biocompatible contact
technology for implantable
medical devices where
reliability, dependability
and ease-of-use are critical.
Implanted devices such
as pacemakers, ICDs, (internal
cardiac defibrillators,
or implantable cardioverter-defibrillators)
neurostimulators, metabolic
controls, circulation
pumps, bone growth simulators,
and pain management devices
will benefit from this
advanced technology.
The Hypertronics ImplanTac
contact is based on their
low-force, low-resistance,
Hypertac® contact
technology, composed of
bio-compatible materials
and designed to prevent
faulty connections and
high risk factors that
may have been an issue
in the past. The ImplanTac
biocompatible contact
solution offers surgeons
the ability to easily
mate implanted leads into
devices without misalignment,
damage to the system,
or risk to the patient.
Specialty mating tools
and the life threatening
hazard of applying unnecessary
pressure to the patient
during the mating process
are eliminated by Hypertronics’
ImplanTac technology.
Using the ImplanTac solution,
doctors can minimize cost
and risk that are associated
with these procedures.
Typically the devices
are encapsulated into
a housing structure, then
implanted into the body
cavity. The leads are
connected to the device
during the surgical procedure.
These leads monitor and
apply electrical energy
based on sensory inputs.
The connection must be
of the ultimate reliability
since failure could be
life threatening, thus
the need for Hypertronics
ImplanTac technology.
“I am excited
for the release our ImplanTac
technology. We strive
to continually develop
solutions for life critical
applications demanding
the utmost reliability.
We were able to transform
our Hypertac technology
into a biocompatible material
to create an implantable
contact that provides
the superior performance
that Hypertronics is known
for,” Vadim Radunsky,
President, stated. “For
decades organizations
have been coming to us
for with their mission
critical applications.
We continually strive
to develop those innovative
interconnect solutions
that need the ultra reliability,
especially when a life
is on the line.”
