Printed Circuit Board
KFT
Series
Hypertronics
KFT Series provides
a low profile, dual
row in-line interconnect
solution ideally suited
for stacking and use
in areas where board
real estate is at
a premium. With the
increasing need to
reduce size and weight,
KFT is designed to
be miniature, allowing
higher signal counts
in smaller spaces
by providing a 0.050
in. (1.27mm) contact
pitch and a board-to-board
stack height of just
0.343 in. (8.71mm).
Like all Hypertronics
products, KFT connectors
are highly engineered
to allow for top performance
under all dynamic
environmental conditions.
Through the use of
the proven 0.40mm
Hypertac® hyperboloid
contact, KFT connectors
provide immunity to
shock and vibration
fretting, numerous
linear paths of contact,
and a self-cleaning
wipe action that results
in consistently better
signal integrity for
high reliability applications
across a wide range
of industries. The
Hypertac contact system
offers low insertion
and extraction forces,
low contact resistance,
as well as industry
leading mating cycles
in the tens of thousands.
Manufactured with
30 percent glass filled
liquid crystal polymer
(LCP) insulators and
potted contacts, KFT
connectors withstand
the high temperatures
associated with soldering.
The LCP insulators
also exceed NASA space
requirements for outgassing
and have inherent
keying features to
prevent improper mating.
KFT connectors are
also available with
optional snap-on mounting
brackets for additional
support.
KFT Series connectors
perform under the
most severe conditions,
giving them the edge
in demanding critical
applications for military,
aerospace, industrial,
and medical devices
where failure is not
an option.

PC/104+ board stacking
connectors utilize the
unique Hypertac®
contact system which
improves the performance
of the PC/104 platform
by providing immunity
to shock and vibration
fretting, allowing for
matched impedance and
better signal integrity.
The capabilities of
Hypertronics’
ruggedized PC/104+ exceed
all prior requirements
for the form factor
- PC/104-based platforms
can now be used in a
greater range of industries
and applications.
The traditional stackable
design eliminates the
need for backplanes
or metal card cages
found throughout the
range of embedded computing
devices used in military
systems. Hypertronics’
PC/104+ is interchangeable
with PC/104+ COTS products
and provides engineers
with a high performance
and highly reliable
interconnect solution
for their applications.
PC/104+ will improve
the performance and
reliability of all current
PC/104 bus architectures
in existing applications
while establishing a
higher standard for
the industry.
The contacts are housed
in an LCP plastic insulator
which exceeds the NASA
space requirement for
outgassing. Space applications
require a higher level
of shock and vibration
performance and the
ruggedized PC/104+ enables
engineers to achieve
this goal. PC/104+ is
a highly engineered
product designed specifically
to allow for top signal
integrity under all
dynamic environmental
conditions, which makes
it a perfect fit for
those applications where
failure is not an option.

HyperGrid is a new,
scalable interconnect
technology that provides
developers with a
high performance and
robust “Drop-in”
replacement for pogo
pin, elastomer-based
and fuzz button connectors.
Suitable for mezzanine
level, IC-to-board,
board-to-board and
flex circuit-to-board
interconnect requirements.
Engineers can feel
confident that these
contacts will replace
any pogo pin or other
discrete I/O compliant
contact in select
interconnect environments.
Based on a patented
compliant floating
contact, HyperGrid
provides an electrically-efficient
connection, with a
very consistent resistance
value from pin to
pin. The 0.5 to 1.27mm
pitch contacts have
a low self-inductance
and use a low contact
force (10 to 45g).
The technology is
very easy to customize,
delivering connectors
that adhere to any
standard footprint.
It is available in
a number of connector
and interposer products
that can meet the
most demanding requirements
for signal integrity,
reliability and performance.
Suitable application
areas include high
speed microwave MMIC,
flat panel displays,
flexible cables, medical
devices, PCB and parallel
boards, and mil/areo
avionics connectors.

2mm
Ruggedized Connector

The Hypertronics 2mm
connector system is
based on the legendary
Hypertac
contact, which
provides immunity to
shock and vibration
fretting. Tested to
military standards,
the Hypertronics 2mm
connector delivers high
performance in a ruggedized
CompactPCI format for
mission critical applications
such as military land
systems, shipboard,
and aerospace.
Configured on a 2mm
center-line with six
rows, the Hypertronics
2mm connector uses 0.4mm
Hypertac
contacts that
feature less than eight
milliohms of contact
resistance and a current
rating of 1.0A. Hypertronics
optimized contact lead
traces provide superior
performance in high-speed
signal applications,
and the connectors are
compatible with standard
reflow soldering processes.
The 2mm connector is
now available in both
keyed and unkeyed configurations.
Modular in design, the
connector is variable
in length and can be
changed in increments
of five contacts. Other
benefits include: standard
2mm footprint; keying
to ensure correct mating;
and a high temperature
LCP insulator that meets
NASA outgassing requirements.
The connectors are interchangeable
with the board layout
on COTS systems and
are reverse gender to
commercial 2mm products.
Adapters are available
to mate with COTS 2mm
connectors.
